Our brief was to modernize and update a 1970s brick home within a short time frame – our clients had purchased home and wanted renovations completed prior to moving in. The property is north facing with landscape shaded by mature jacaranda trees.
Clients sought to create a light filled, calming space with an effortless transition into relaxation. They sought easy connectivity between the kitchen, living areas and a north facing entertaining deck and garden.
This enough area under the existing roofline this was achieved with the reconfiguring of internal spaces and utilisation of clerestory windows to provide natural light and connect to outdoors.
Natural materials such as timber and stone were used throughout the renovation for connection to the Earth. A neutral colour scheme was chosen and a fireplace installed to add warmth and atmosphere. Furniture layout is uncluttered and decorations are kept to a minimum to provide the calming spirit of a Zen Abode.
